ADHD Support Group Scheme

Dundee and Angus ADHD Support Group are running a Family Information and Social Skills course about ADHD for families in Dundee, Angus and Perth.

Please see the poster attached, and the link below for more information. It will run over 6 weeks instead of 8 due to current restrictions, and the family/adult session will be over Zoom.

The course is split into two parts. One part is for children to work on social skills, and the other part is for family/parents/carers.

For the children, the course will vary based on age groups that we have grouped together, but usually it would be:

  • Week 1 and 2 - listening skills
  • Week 3 - Sounds and environment
  • Week 4 - communicating through body language etc.

For the adults that will be joining the zoom calls, it would usually cover understanding the root causes of behaviours, what it feels like to have ADHD, anxiety etc. Quite a lot is covered, and there is a lot of opportunities to discuss personal circumstances related to your own young people and family dynamics, and questions and answers.

At the end of each week for the children, you will also be told what they have been up to and hopefully they will practice what they have learnt at home during the week.

Children’s social skills is likely begin at either 5.30 or 6pm depending on where most families will be coming from for drop off and it will be based at The Hub@Friockheim.

The adult session will begin at 6.30pm.
